BY THE NUMBERS: GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONE
-
Widener fell behind early as Ursinus jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a pair of hits and a defensive miscue. However, Caitlyn Katchur settled in on the mound, keeping Ursinus off the board for the remainder of the game. The Pride responded in the third inning when Elizabeth Carney tripled and later scored on an RBI hit, followed by Paris Balilonis driving in another run with a double to cut the deficit to 3-2. The momentum swung in the fourth inning as Widener erupted for four runs, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Kaelin Kuester, giving the Pride a 6-3 advantage.
-
Widener's offense continued to roll, adding two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, extending their lead. Kuester delivered once again, crushing a three-run homer in the seventh to put the game out of reach at 12-3. Meanwhile, Katchur dominated on the mound, allowing just three runs on six hits while striking out four over seven innings, securing the complete-game victory. Widener's explosive offense and lockdown pitching led them to a decisive 12-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWO – CANCELED EARLY DUE TO DARKNESS
-
The first inning would go quickly for the Pride, as three up and out would see the Bears on the mound. Wild pitches would send a Ursinus runner home as they would take the early 0-1 lead to end the first inning. The second inning would be better for the Pride as Kuester would hit a single to right field and advance on a wild pitch, but a double play would see her out before reaching home. Two more Pride outs and three quick Bear outs, and the game would reach the third inning. Widener again would finish their at-bats without a hit, leaving Ursinus up at the bottom of the third. Ursinus would explode for five runs in the inning, taking a 6-0 lead before the game would be canceled due to darkness.
