HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK
- Both sides saw turnovers in the early moments of the game. Although the Spartans went up 2-0, an Amanda Dill caused turnover resulted in a good clear and a Clark Trowbridge score. Following a York score, two straight fouls on the home team led to Ava Leporati getting past the goalie for the second Widener goal. Lucy Breithaupt assisted. York would add one more goal on the board, as the first quarter ended 4-2.
- The second quarter featured a York barrage. They scored eight goals in the second set of 15 minutes. Rosini made three saves in the quarter against the Spartans' high-flying attack. It was 12-2 at the half.
- York put three more scores on the board in the initial minutes of the third quarter. However, the Pride forced multiple York fouls and green cards. After a couple of Pride missed shots, DeHaven broke through for a goal at 6:47. As Trowbridge won the next draw control, DeHaven answered again. Widener's defense caused two York turnovers in the waning minutes, but the score was 15-4 through three.
- Maddie Reeser checked in goalie at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Although she immediately made a save, the Spartans scored 14 seconds later. York scored twice more for the day to reach 18 goals. In the closing seconds, Ruggiero sent a shot into the net for her first goal. However, despite a few saves by Reeser, and Widener's defense causing turnovers in the fourth, the deficit was too large for a comeback. York won 18-5.
