MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Widener Softball takes two hard losses to Messiah in their final doubleheader of the season.Â
The Pride fall to 13-19 on the season and 5-9 in conference play.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONEÂ

Neither team would score in the first two innings, as the Pride would go without a hit. Widener would get their first hit in the top of the third, but would go without a score, and the Falcons would score on an RBI double as they would take a 0-1 lead. Neither team would score in the fourth, and the Pride would still be unable to get a hit in the fifth inning. Messiah would extend their lead with an RBI single in their at bat as the Pride trailed 0-2 heading into the sixth inning. Widener again would go scoreless, but the Falcons exploded. They would score six runs in the inning as the Pride would fall 0-8 in six innings.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWOÂ

The Pride would go three up and three out in their first at bat, and Falcons would score on two sacrifice outs as the Pride would go down 0-2. The second inning would go without a score, and the Pride again would stay scoreless after the top of the third. Messiah would score in the bottom of the third on a single 2RBI, and Widener would find themselves down 0-4 heading into the fourth inning.Â

Neither team would get a hit in the fourth inning, with the Pride also not getting one in the top of the fifth, and the Falcons would again score in the bottom of the fifth to take a 0-5 lead. Widener would get on the board in the top of the sixth, as Liv Robinson's ground out would send Taylor Bell home and Kate Tong's RBI single would score Jalia Lawrence. With Messiah not scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Pride would be down 2-5 heading into the seventh. A double play and ground out would stop any chances of a comeback however, as Widener would fall 2-5.Â
