FREDERICK, Md. – Widener baseball opens Easter break with a 10-3 win over the Hood Blazers on the road.
After the win, the Pride improve to 11-14 and 5-6 in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AT FCC BASEBALL FIELD
The Pride open the game with a strong top of the first with a Brex reaching on at throwing error to be the first Pride player on base.
Justin Costanzo added a hit from a single to left field to advance Brex. The next at bat, Yates hit a bomb to right field to put the Pride up three with one out. Fregmen would also hit a homer to end the top 4-0. On the defensive, Curran had a quick 1-2-3 inning with a fly out and two strikeouts.
The scoring continued for the Pride in the top of the second as Robinson hit a double to start the inning. Yates hit a ball to left to advance two bases to bring in Brex and Robinson. The score was 6-0. Another 1-2-3 inning for Curran kept the Blazers scoreless.
Anthony Boccio credited an RBI to his name with a single to right field to bring in Robinson for his second run of the day. The Blazers saw their first hit of the game but were unable to score any runs after a groundout to third. Yates continued his day with a double to right in the top of the fourth to start the inning. A Nick Barnez single allows Yates to score to make the score 8-0.
After a quick three and a half innings, the Blazers saw their first runs of the game. The Pride escaped the inning leaving one on base after allowing three to score. Heading into the bottom of the seventh, the score was 8-3 in favor of the Pride. Two full innings went by before the next scoring continued. In the bottom of the eight, Curran's day came to an end after throwing 97 pitches, striking out four Blazers, and only two walks.
Tyler Conlan kept the Blazers scoreless after allowing one on base. The Pride would see their last two runs in the top of the ninth. Barenz would find a triple to allow
Garrett McClain to pinch hit for the first time this season. An
Aaron Nuble walk would set him up to steal second eventually turning into runs for Barenz and Nuble. The Pride finish the day with 12 hits, two home runs, and 27 putouts while Curran and Conlan hold the Blazers to three runs on 125 total pitches.
