HOW IT HAPPENED AT CABRINI-CARROLL BASEBALL FIELD

Kyle Brex, Andrew Yates, and Nick Barenz immediately got things rolling for the Pride in the top of the first with two hits and Barenz advancing to first after being hit from a pitch. With three on base the Pride could not bring any home as the inning came to an end from a foul out from Stephen Posner. On the defensive side, the Pride kept the game close but gave up a run from a single that snuck through the infield. The second inning gave scoreless results from both sides. The top of the third continued the hitting with a hit from Barnez. After a pitching change for the Pride, Aidan O'Brien came in with two on base. The Cavaliers added one to the score.

Anthony Boccio opened the fourth with a double to force a pitching change. Bauerle hit a homer to left field to tie the game at two with one out. Justin Costanzo found connection with a single to center field. The bottom of the fourth was a quick 1-2-3 inning as O'Brien struck out two. Barenz found his way around the bags to give the Pride a 3-2 lead with Bauerle doing the same the next inning to again give the Pride a 4-3 lead.

The next two innings were a standoff from each side until the Cavaliers found a spark. The team hit a grand slam to give them a 7-4 lead with a few innings left. With just two innings left, the Pride looked for answers. A pitching change brought Alex Mihos and Kyle Laing in. As the eighth passed, the score was 8-4. Barenz and Aaron Nubile found contact with the ball and got on base but the team could not bring them home. On the day, the Blue and Gold registered 12 hits and 24 putouts.
