CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team sent 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run fourth inning as the Pride overcame an early deficit to down the Neumann Knights 19-9 in a game halted after seven innings due to darkness.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Neumann posted a pair of runs in the first, Widener got one of the tallies back in the bottom of the inning as with one out Reis tripled to center and was brought home on a Samson groundout.
- The Knights countered, building the lead to 9-1 with a run in the second, two in the third, and four in the fourth.
- Widener rallied in a big way in the bottom of the fourth, scoring nine runs, taking the lead. Key in the inning, which featured six hits and four walks, was a two-run triple from Posner, a single by Samson to drive in a pair, and an RBI double from Wood that tied the game.
- The Blue and Gold added to the lead in the sixth as Fremgen led off the inning with his first career homer. Two more hits followed as Boccio doubled and Posner singled to put runners on the corners. After a double steal brought the second run home, Brex wrapped the scoring in the frame with a double to right, bringing home Posner.
- WU continued to pad the advantage in the seventh with six runs including a run-scoring single from Fremgen and hits by Costanzo and Reis each driving in a pair.
