@WidenerWLax Concludes Season in #MAClax Semifinals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Widener University women's lacrosse team saw a historic season come to a close in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals with a 10-5 loss at top-seeded Stevenson on Wednesday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing 4-0, Widener got on the board just past the 19-minute mark as Kelley took a feed from DiGilio and buried the ball in the back of the net.
  • The Pride opened the scoring in the second half as Melanie Bert tallied just 1:04 into the frame, cutting the lead to 6-2. After a Stevenson score, Bert netted her second of the game, a player-up goal coming off a Lynch pass from behind the net. Five minutes later, Bert found rope again, chopping the edge to 7-4.
  • SU responded, scoring three in a row to take a six-goal lead before holding the Pride at arm's length for the final 10 minutes.

  • The 34 caused turnovers by Megan Racioppi are the sixth highest total for a season in team history. She ends with 78 in her career, third most all-time. She also became the first player in program history to make four All-Conference teams.
  • Amber Bretz won two draw controls, giving her 95 for the season, setting a record for the Blue and Gold.
  • Widener won its first ever postseason game with a victory against Albright on Monday and played a game in the month of May for the first time since 2010.
