GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Widener University softball team played its second doubleheader in as many days, going up against the Messiah College Falcons on Thursday afternoon. After dropping game one 7-5, the Pride bounced back, securing the series split with a 7-5 victory in game two.

How it happened in game one
- After a scoreless two innings, Messiah jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third.
- The Falcon margin increased to three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- McDowell led off the top of the sixth with a triple. Gosselin scored the left fielder with a single up the middle.
- Benozich followed with a single, giving the Pride two on with no outs.
- Cooper doubled, bringing both runners home and tying the game at three.
- Four runs from Messiah in the bottom of the sixth created a deficit too large for Widener to overcome.
How it happened in game two
- Widener held a 1-0 advantage for the first three-and-a-half innings, tallying a run in the first with an RBI single from Ariel Silva.
- Messiah took a 2-1 edge in the bottom of the fourth.
- Marissa Camac brought home Cooper in the top of the sixth, evening the score at two.
- Three more Pride hitters crossed the plate in the top of the seventh, beginning with a bases loaded RBI single from Cooper.
- Kelly Dodgson bunted home Benozich then Camac singled, scoring Cooper.
- With the game on the line, the Falcons knotted the score at five in the bottom of the seventh.
- McDowell and Gosselin started the rally for Widener in the eighth, both singling.
- Benozich tripled, clearing the bases and making it 7-5 Widener.
- Powell closed it out in the bottom of the eighth.
