ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team clashed with MAC Commonwealth opponent Lebanon Valley College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Pride took game one, defeating the Dutchmen 7-2, and then narrowly fell 2-1 in game two.

How it happened in game one
- Matt Samson led the game off with a triple. Two straight walks made it bases loaded with no outs.
- Samson was thrown out at the plate on a fielder's choice.
- With the bases still juiced, Daren Wood ripped a single into left field, scoring the runners from second and third.
- DeBellis was brought home on a fielder's choice and the Pride held a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
- LVC got one back in bottom half of the first.
- Zettlemoyer shut down the Dutchmen in order in the second inning.
- Two straight Pride singles in the top of the third led to Widener's fourth run. DeBellis crossed the plate after an LVC error.
- Zettlemoyer continued dealing, holding Lebanon Valley scoreless through the third and fourth innings.
- The Pride added two more in the top of the fifth.
- Another run for WU in the seventh created a five-run lead and the Pride kept that advantage until the final out.
How it happened in game two
- Strong pitching and defense forced a scoreless tie through one-and-a-half innings.
- LVC took a two run lead in the bottom of the second.
- After giving up two in the second, Dylan Peiffer settled into a nice groove, striking out four and keeping the Dutchmen off the scoreboard over four innings.
- Widener cut the deficit to one in the top of the seventh thanks to DeBellis single that scored Tommy McParland.
- LVC closed it out with Pride runners on first and second.
