CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team banged out 11 hits, but was upended 4-3 by the Arcadia Knights on Saturday afternoon in a MAC Commonwealth contest.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Stephen DeBellis, Brandon Reis, and Dylan Morrissette each had two hits for Widener.
• Joey Zettlemoyer retired all six batters he faced in two scoreless innings, including working out of an inherited jam in the seventh.
• Joey Norton tossed a scoreless inning in the eighth.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Widener struck for its initial run in the bottom of the first inning as Matt Samson and Stephen DeBellis both doubled with the second two-bagger plating Samson, tying the game at 1-1.
• Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, the Pride opened the inning with four singles as Daren Wood, Brandon Reis, Dylan Morrissette, and Brennan Taylor all reached, the last hit knotting the score at 2-2. A fielder's choice by Samson sent Reis across the plate, giving the Blue and Gold its first lead of the game.
• Arcadia responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth.
• Widener had chances in both the seventh and eighth, but was unable to push the tying run across the plate.
