ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team scored seven runs in the third inning, leading the Pride to an 8-4 win in a MAC Commonwealth contest against the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen on Monday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Greg Elfreth, Chandler Liero, and Stephen DeBellis each had two hits for Widener. Liero also drove in a run.
  • Nick D'Alessandro hit his second homer of the season for the Pride.

  • Ricky Collings authored 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing 2-0 into the third, Widener broke out in a big way with seven runs. A big key for the Pride was taking advantage of mistakes as Lebanon Valley committed three errors, walk a batter and hit a batter.
  • LVC got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. After that, neither team scored until the sixth when D'Alessandro led off the frame with his second homer of the season to make it 8-3.
  • The Dutchmen posted a run in the bottom of the sixth to close the scoring.
  • The bullpen came up big for the Pride allowing one run in four innings of work.
