Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lynch Eclipses Century Mark in Season Closing Contest Against Stevenson

CHESTER, Pa.Kelly Lynch became just the second player in Widener women's lacrosse history to record 100 points in a single season as the Pride closed its 2018 campaign with an 18-5 loss against Stevenson on Saturday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Lynch had three assists in the game to give her 102 points for the season. She joins Tiffany Crowe (104 – 1993) as the only players in program history with triple digit scoring.
  • Melanie Bert led the Pride with a pair of goals.
  • Ashley Mastronardo, Caroline Kelley, and Emmo DiGilio also scored for the Blue and Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Mustangs scored the first goal of the contest, Bert tied it two minutes later, scoring just less than four minutes into the opening half.
  • Stevenson followed with a big run that bridged halftime to go up 16-2.
  • Widener showed some fight late in the second half. On a free position, Lynch passed the ball to Bert who found the back of the net. It was a milestone for both as it was the 50th goal of the season for Bert and was point #100 for Lynch.
  • The Pride scored twice more before SU posted the final two goals of the contest.

NOTABLE
  • Widener had two players with 50 goals or more for just the second time in team history. Lynch (54) and Bert (50) join Crowe (53) and Courtney Patton (53) in 1993 in accomplishing the feat.
  • Lynch ended the year with 100 career goals, 15 shy of 10th place all-time for WU.
