CHESTER, Pa. (May 11, 2017) - The Widener University baseball team fell in post season action to the Ramapo College of New Jersey, 8-4, on Thursday evening in Chester, Pa.
After Martinez hit a single to load the bases, Connor Walsh reached on an error to drive in two runs and put the Roadrunners ahead by two in the first frame. Widener then reached on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit in half.
With two on base and one out in the fourth frame, Ramapo added to the score by driving in one run with a sacrifice fly from Mario Fontenella. The Roadrunners continued to pad their lead in the fifth with four more runs. Three out of the four runs were driven in by Walsh who hit a homer out of left field.
The Pride added a run late in the eighth inning when an RBI single from senior

Stephen DeBellis after hitting a double through center field. After advancing to third on a passed ball, Rob DeAngellis was driven home in the ninth frame with a single from Bobby Shannon to secure the Roadrunners victory.
Despite the lead, the hosts did not back down as they scored two more runs in the final ninth inning to cut the deficit in half. Senior

Nick Enos tripled to right field to advance McDonough.
Jerry DeAndrea earned the victory on the mound for Ramapo. He pitched six and one-thirds innings, surrendered one run, three hits, struck out two batters and issued five walks. Junior
Josh Lafferty suffered the loss for Widener. He hurled five innings, surrendered seven runs, six hits, struck out none and did not issue a walk.
