CHESTER, Pa. (April 29, 2017) - The Widener University women's lacrosse team fell to Lycoming, 13-7, Saturday afternoon at the Edith R. Dixon field in their last contest of the season.
Sophomore
Kelly Lynch (Springfield, Pa.) scored the only three goals of the first half, however, it was not enough as Lycoming entered the recess with an 8-3 lead.
The Pride did not give up as they scored four more goals in the second half and only allowed the Warriors to score five times. The half was back-and-fourth in the first five minutes of play. Lycoming opened up the scoring, but freshman
Melanie Bert (Oceanside, N.Y.) answered a minute later with an unassisted goal. After another goal by the Warriors, sophomore
Kristi Rohrer (Seaville, N.J.) fought back with an unassisted goal to cut the deficit down to five. The Pride battled to the very end by scoring the last two goals of the game with three minutes remaining on the clock, however, it was not enough as Lycoming took home the 13-7 victory.
Widener (4-12, MAC Commonwealth 1-7) is slated to return 12 letterwinners next season.
