Clasing Nets Eight Goals in MAC Commonwealth Loss to Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (April 10, 2016) – Junior Brooke Clasing (Shrewsbury, Pa.) netted eight goals as the Widener women's lacrosse team fell to Lycoming, 14-9, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth game on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Pride fall to 5-5 overall, and 2-1 in MAC Commonwealth action, while the Warriors improve to 10-1 and 2-1 in conference play. The loss snaps a two game winning streak for the Blue and Gold in conference play. 
 
The Warriors tell an early 4-0 lead behind two goals from Kelly McGinniss in the first six plus minutes. Clasing would score four unanswered goals, as the Pride would tie the game at four with 7:33 remaining in the first half.
 
The game would remain tied for three minutes until Jordan Lazarich recorded her 43 goal of the season for a 5-4 Warrior advantage. Less than two minutes later, Clasing would answer with a goal on a pass from freshman Kristi Rohrer (Seaville, N.J.) to tie the game at five.
 
Senior Morgan Scott (Cinnaminson, N.J.) would open the second half up with an unassisted goal. Clasing would add two more just two minutes later to once against tie the MAC Commonwealth game up. Both of the goals by the junior attacker were assisted by senior Meghan Garvey (Avondale, Pa.).
 
Behind two goals from Meghenn Jackson, Lycoming would take an 11-8 lead with just over 20 minutes remaining in the contest. Clasing would cut into the lead of the Warriors by netting her eighth goal of the day, which was assisted by Rohrer.
 
Widener was 14-of-17 on clearance attempts, while Lycoming was 12-of-13. The Pride picked up 19 ground balls and ten draw controls, while the Warriors picked up 21 ground balls and grabbed 14 draw controls.
 
Clasing finished the game with eight goals and grabbed three draw controls. Garvey added four assists, grabbed four draw controls and picked up two ground balls. Kelley Dreher (Glen Rock, Pa.) caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls, while Megan Racioppi (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) grabbed four ground balls and caused one turnover.
 
Grace Morales (East Norwich, N.Y.) saved 12 shots on goal as she received the loss against the Warriors.
 
Widener will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Lebanon Valley at 7 p.m. in MAC Commonwealth play.
