Women's Lacrosse Falls in Season Finale to Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (Apr. 25, 2015) – The Widener women's lacrosse team fell to Commonwealth foe Stevenson at Mustang Stadium, 20-5.
 
The Pride fall to 6-9, and 3-5 in league play, while the Mustangs improve to 11-6, and 7-1.
 
Freshman Kelsey Powell (Washington Township, N.J.) notched one goal and an assist against the Mustangs. The midfielder also added two caused turnovers and picked up a groundball.
 
Powell's goal was assisted by junior Caitlyn Mullner (Aston, Pa.).
 
Junior Meghan Garvey (Avon Grove, Pa.) scored twice on only two shots for the Pride. She finished with five draw controls, one assist, picked up one groundball.
 
Garvey recorded her assist on a goal by Mullner with 12:30 left in the second half.
 
Senior Megan Capobianco (Clementon, N.J.) scored her first collegiate goal from Powell with 50 seconds left in the game.
 
Widener was 8-of-15 on clearances, while Stevenson was 14-of-16 on clear attempts.
 
Senior netminder Megan Dunn (Oxford, Pa.) notched nine saves in 50-plus minutes of work in goal.
 
The Pride finished the season with a 6-9 overall record and 3-5 in Commonwealth action. Powell led all scorers with 29 goals and 38 points. Sophomore Jamie Hills (Ridley Park, Pa.) finished the 2015 campaign tied for first on the team with 38 points. The attacker notched 26 goals and 12 assist.
 
Garvey was third on the team with 24 goals. She finished the season with 33 points and nine assist, but was second on the team with 38 draw controls.
