Sam Smith helped the men's basketball team register a perfect 2-0 record and clinch the second seed in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament with road wins over Arcadia and Alvernia this past week. He averaged 20.0 points by shooting 57.1 percent from the floor (12-of-21), including 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from long range, and a perfect 100 percent (9-of-9) at the stripe.
Smith first scored 24 points, including 21 in the second half, in an 83-72 road win over Arcadia before contributing 16 points, including 11 in the second half, to help the Pride rally from a double-digit deficit and beat Alvernia on the road by a 78-73 score. Smith also accounted for nine boards against the Crusaders.
