Ernie Pitone led the men’s cross country team at the Main Line Invitational at Haverford on Friday. Competing against a field which included NCAA Division I runners from Villanova, Penn and La Salle, Pitone placed second overall among 92 competitors and first among Division III student-athletes by navigating the 4-mile circuit in 19:23.3, which was just two seconds shy of Villanova's Casey Comber and his overall winning mark of 19:21.3. He also finished more than 39 seconds ahead of the second Division III competitor who was representing 16th-ranked Haverford.
