Sophomore Ian Gaynor broke his own school record in the 100-yard freestyle, winning in 45.28 seconds at the F&M Invitational after swimming 44.9 seconds in the preliminaries that would have placed him fourth at last year's NCAA Championship. He also was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, third in the 800-yard freestyle relay, fourth in the 200-yard medley relay and fifth in the 400-yard medley relay. Gaynor also swam two NCAA "B" cuts.
