Former Men's Lacrosse Standout Chris Matthews Named in Forbes' “30 Under 30” List

Chris Matthews, who helped lead Widener's men's lacrosse team to four Middle Atlantic Conference titles, was named to the “30 Under 30” list for Marketing and Advertising by Forbes Magazine.

Forbes created 15 different lists of 30 people younger than age 30 who are the “young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs impatient to change the world.”

Matthews was just appointed as a senior brand strategist at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners with expertise in digital creative strategy, product development and analytics.  Prior to joining GSP, he led Big Spaceship's work with the Google Creative Lab.  His focus was to explore new platforms and products undefined in the market and develop novel ideas for them with his team. The most successful idea was “What Do You Love?,” a meta search tool that won several awards, including the revered Tomorrow Award.

Matthews was part of a huge legacy in Widener history.  Not only did the team achieve success within the league, but the Pride in 2006 topped Kenyon for the program's first NCAA Tournament win and duplicated that the followed year at Denison.

Individual accolades also followed Matthews, who in 2008 was picked second team All-MAC after closing fourth on the team with 22 goals, fourth with 12 assists and fifth with 34 points.  He ended his career with 71 goals, 36 assists and 107 points.

The Drexel Hill, PA native and Monsignor Bonner High School graduate served as an assistant coach for the Pride in 2009, helping guide them to the MAC final.
