Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 17-2 Rout of Misericordia

Widener for the second straight game bolted to a huge lead and was on cruise control, this time recording a 17-2 Middle Atlantic Conference win over Misericordia at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Widener (4-5, 3-1 MAC) opened a 13-1 halftime lead by notching a 29-4 shots edge.  Senior Justin Upp (Camden, DE), sophomore Steve Cull (Havertown, PA) and freshman Johnny Casey (Glenside, PA) netted all three of their goals in that span.

Sophomore Lee Petroski (Springfield, PA) and freshman Mark Kane (Morton, PA) scored twice with junior Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) dishing three assists for the Pride, who finished with a 48-13 shots advantage and a 37-13 cushion in ground balls.

Freshman Nick Fluharty (West Grove, PA) went 17-for-20 on face-offs with 12 ground balls and sophomore Kevin Carney (Ridley, PA) played the first 30 minutes in net for Widener.

Lee Blair and Sean McGuigan scored for the Cougars (3-6, 1-3).

The Pride have outscored their last two opponents 34-2, including Saturday's 17-0 blanking at Alvernia.

Widener is home Saturday vs. Manhattanville, beginning at 4:00 pm.
