Track & Field Excels at the ECAC Outdoor Championships

Widener saw many standout performances as it took part at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Springfield, MA.

 

Sophomore Abby Schaffer (Easton, PA) was second in the pole vault at 3.85 meters to Anna Heim from Moravian, who won the NCAA indoor title.  This came after Schaffer captured the ECAC indoor championship last winter and was second at the NCAA Championships.

 

Senior Nikita Halteman (Hatboro, PA), the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year, closed fourth in the discus at 40.98 meters, seventh in the shot put at 12.00 meters and 11th in the hammer throw at 43.28 meters.

 

Sophomore Brooke McDonald (Drexel Hill, PA) was tied for 10th in the pole vault at 3.25 meters.  The women's 4x100-meter relay team finished 13th in 51.03 seconds and was comprised of junior Valisha Andrus (Pemberton, NJ), freshman Bilikisu Adeyemi (North Bethesda, MD), sophomore Emilie Keane (Haddonfield, NJ) and freshman Darcela Llanos (Abington, PA).

 

The women ended 18th out of 51 scoring teams with 15 points.

 

For the men, Eric Davis (Ewing, NJ) was third in the shot put at 15.15 meters and fellow sophomore Dennis Conn (Morton, PA) ended fourth in the 800-meter run at 1:52.74 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.  Senior Bernard Innocent (Fairfax, VA) closed 12th in the 200-meter dash at 22.62 seconds and sophomore Robert Dowd (Doylestown, PA) ended 19th in the javelin throw at 53.28 meters.

 

The men finished 21 first out of 48 scoring teams with 11 points.
