Casey Pritz Named Commonwealth Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Widener sophomore Casey Pritz (Abington, PA) has been named Commonwealth Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career.

 

Pritz finished with 32 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed 20 rebounds in a pair of victories for Widener (11-10, 7-3 CC).  She had 18 points and 12 rebounds Wednesday at Albright and followed that with 14 and eight in Sunday's 68-60 upset of No. 20 Lebanon Valley.

 

The 2009 conference Rookie of the Year, Pritz this season is 17th in the league with 9.8 points per game, fifth with 7.9 rebounds per contest, third with a .538 shooting percentage and first with 1.86 blocks per game.

 

Pritz also won the award on January 12, 2009 and December 14, 2009.

 

Widener, the defending league champion, sits third in the conference 1/2 game ahead of Alvernia (6-3).  The teams square off Wednesday in Reading, PA at 6:00 pm.

Colleen Cormier
Field Hockey
Junior Colleen Cormier closed with a goal and an assist in Widener's 5-0 season-opening victory at Immaculata.  She scored the only goal the Pride would need in the 21st minute and added an assist early in the second half.
Brad Ziegler
Men's Soccer
Junior Brad Ziegler ended with two goals and two assists over three victories last week for the men's soccer team.  He had two goals and an assist at the Garnet Alumni Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
