Widener’s second half comeback was not enough in a 70-62 Commonwealth Conference loss to Lebanon Valley at Schwartz Center.

Lebanon Valley (9-12, 5-5 CC) raced to a 44-22 halftime lead with Grant Becker scoring 10 points.  The squad shot 53 percent (18-of-34) from the floor and 5-of-10 from 3-point range.

The Pride (11-10, 4-6) closed to 64-59 with 1:03 left, capping an 8-1 during which the Dutchmen did not make a basket for over seven minutes.  But Jordan Stewart made 2-of-3 from the foul line in the final minute to ice it.

Sophomore Jack Brennan (Stratford, NJ) had 14 points and eight rebounds with junior Jarrell Nelson (Waldorf, MD) adding 11 points for Widener, which shot 34 percent (23-of-67) overall.  Junior Chris McDevitt (Doylestown, PA) and sophomore Perry Wright (Severn, MD) scored 10 points apiece.

Dan Dunkleberger had 17 points and 15 rebounds with Joe Meehan adding 15 points for Lebanon Valley, which shot 46 percent (25-of-54) overall.

Widener on Wednesday visits Alvernia for an 8:00 pm start.
